- Description: An immense mausoleum of white marble, commissioned in 1632 by the order of the Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan, in memory of his favorite wife. The Taj Mahal complex is believed to have been completed in its entirety in 1653 at a cost estimated at the time to be around 32 million Indian rupees, which in 2015 would be valued at around 52.8 billion Indian rupees ($827 million US).

- Description: Built of concrete and stone, it is the largest amphitheatre ever built and is considered one of the greatest works of architecture and engineering. It was commissioned in 72 A.D. and completed in 80 A.D, and estimated to hold between 50,000 and 80,000 spectators. It was used for gladiatorial contests and public spectacles such as mock sea battles, animal hunts, executions, re-enactments of famous battles, and dramas based on Classical mythology.

- Description: Completed in 1931, the statue stands 98 feet tall with a 92-foot horizontal arm span. Made of reinforced concrete clad in a mosaic of thousands of triangular soapstone tiles, it sits on a square stone pedestal base about 26 feet high on a deck atop the mountain’s summit. The statue is the largest Art Deco-style sculpture in the world and is one of Rio de Janeiro’s most recognizable landmarks.

- Description: Machu Picchu stands 7,972 feet above sea-level, in the middle of a tropical mountain forest, in an extraordinarily beautiful setting. The Incas built the estate around 1450, but abandoned it a century later at the time of the Spanish Conquest. It remained unknown to the outside world before being brought to international attention in 1911. Since then, Machu Picchu has become the largest tourist attraction in South America.

- Description: The Pyramid of Kukulkan (also know as El Castillo) is a step pyramid that dominates the center of the Chichén Itzá archaeological site. Built over a pre-existing temple between 800 & 900 AD, it towers above the other monuments at 24 meters tall with a 6 meter temple on top of the highest platform.

- Description: Petra is a historical and archaeological city famous for its rock-cut architecture and water conduit system. Established possibly as early as 312 B.C., it is a symbol of Jordan, as well as Jordan's most-visited tourist attraction. UNESCO has described it as "one of the most precious cultural properties of man's cultural heritage"

- Description: The largest of the three pyramids at Giza, known as the Great Pyramid, is truly an astonishing work of engineering. Egyptologists believe that the pyramid was built as a tomb over a 10 to 20-year period concluding around 2560 BC. Initially at 481 feet, the Great Pyramid was the tallest man-made structure in the world for over 3,800 years.
